12:05 - 12:25 Clinton Decentralized Approach to Wastwater Facilities Planning
Presented by Kristie Wagner, Project Manager, CDM Smith

The Town of Clinton, CT has been working towards a comprehensive wastewater facilities plan since the 1970s. Portions of the quaint town, entirely served by septic systems, are densely populated with rocky or poorly-draining soils. We are developing a decentralized plan in which each area is individually evaluated for the most economical solution. Interestingly, the Town has rejected any discharge to surface water, and finding sites suitable for subsurface discharge of treated wastewater has been a significant effort.
