CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF WATER POLLUTION CONTROL AUTHORITIES

2015-2016 PRESIDENTIAL EXCELLENCE AWARD RECIPIENT
VINCENT F. SUSCO, JR.

Vincent F. Susco, Jr., or Vinny as we all know him, was a long-time member of CAWPCA’s Board of Directors and served as our President for several years.  We are proud to award him with the 2016 Presidential Excellence Award and we are very appreciative of his contributions to the growth and success of the Association during his tenure.

Vinny’s career in the water and wastewater industry started at the University of Connecticut, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in geology, with a minor in environmental engineering. He went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Haven.

Vinny’s professional career started with the Southington Water Department, where he operated a 4.0 MGD public water system for five years.  From there, he spent 20 years at the Connecticut Water Company, where he served in several roles, from Assistant Engineer to Vice President of Administration and Corporate Secretary.  Most recently, Vinny ran the EastHampton / Colchester Joint Facilities, a regional sewage collection and treatment system comprised of a 3.9 MGD treatment plant, numerous lift stations, force mains and odor control facilities.  In this role, he also managed the daily operations of East Hampton’s community water systems and the Town’s public water supply system development.  Vinny is now retired after 14 years in this role.

Throughout his career, in addition to CAWPCA, Vinny has been very active and has held numerous leadership positions in the water and wastewater industry’s professional associations, including:

  • the American Water Works Association;
  • the Connecticut Water Works Association;
  • the Water Environment Federation;
  • the Connecticut Water Planning Council;
  • the National Association of Water Companies;
  • the Business Advisory Council of SARAH (shoreline division);
  • the American Society of Corporate Secretaries;
  • the Society for Human Resource Management; and
  • the National Association of Personnel Administration.

Based on his invaluable contributions to CAWPCA and his body of work in the water and wastewater industry, the Presidential Excellence award is well-deserved.  Vinny plans to “really” retire, but he just might be available for some consulting work and we expect to see him at our CAWPCA events.  Congratulations, Vinny!  We appreciate all that you have done for our organization.
